Top seed David Ferrer highlighted Friday's quarterfinal winners at the Portugal Open.

The world No. 4 from Spain handled Romanian veteran Victor Hanescu 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) at this clay-court French Open tune-up.

Ferrer's semifinal opponent on Saturday will be capable third-seeded Italian Andreas Seppi, who dismissed eighth-seeded 2005 Portugal Open runner-up Tommy Robredo of Spain 6-4, 6-3.

The other semi will pit second-seeded Swiss slugger Stanislas Wawrinka against upstart Spanish qualifier Pablo Carreno-Busta. Wawrinka beat Portuguese wild card Gastao Elias 6-4, 6-4 to reach the final four at this event for a second straight year, while the 21-year-old Carreno-Busta upended fourth-seeded Italian Fabio Fognini 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Day 5.

The 2013 Portugal Open winner will collect $96,000.
