Bogota, Colombia (SportsNetwork.com) - Eighth-seeded American Irina Falconi, a native of South America, secured a berth in Friday's quarterfinals at the women's Claro Open tennis event.

The Ecuadoran-born Falconi came from behind to beat German Dinah Pfizenmaier 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 on the red clay at Bogota's Club Campestre El Rancho.

The 24-year-old Florida resident Falconi's opponent in the round of eight will be top-seeded Elina Svitolina, who cruised past Danka Kovinic 6-3, 6-1 in 57 minutes.

In more second-round action on Day 3, Brazilian Teliana Pereira got past qualifier Mandy Minella of Luxembourg 7-5, 7-5, and Spain's Lourdes Dominguez Lino downed Beatriz Haddad Maia, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0.

Dominguez Lino titled here in 2006 and 2011 and was the runner-up in 2010.
