Keith Matthews scored 12 points and Yorel Hawkins and Derek Needham added 11 apiece as Fairfield won its 10th straight by beating Marist 59-44 on Friday night.

The Stags (11-3, 4-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led 28-23 at halftime and began the second half on a 17-3 run, taking a 45-26 lead with 10:42 to go.

A jumper from Sam Prescott capped a 9-0 run for Marist, which closed the deficit to 45-35 with 8:12 left.

Fairfield answered with a 7-0 run to extend its lead to 52-35 with 6:34 remaining as the Stags led by at least 12 the rest of the way.

Fairfield's 10-game winning streak is the second longest in school history, trailing only a 13-game stretch during the 1965-66 season.

Sam Prescott scored 20 points to lead the Red Foxes (3-13, 2-2) and was the only player in double figures for Marist, which was outscored in the paint 38-16.
