New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock was named the National League Player of the Week for the period ending June 1.
Pollock led the majors in hitting with a .522 batting average across six games. He also led the NL in on-base percentage (.593), total bases (23), runs scored (nine) and doubles (six).
The 26-year-old landed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand on Sunday after getting hit by a pitch from Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto in the eighth inning of Saturday's 5-0 loss.
Milwaukee's Ryan Braun, Khris Davis and Kyle Lohse, Philadelphia's Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz, Cincinnati's Aroldis Chapman, Pittsburgh's Jason Grilli, San Francisco's Tim Hudson, San Diego's Huston Street and Lucas Duda of the New York Mets were also considered for the award.
