Villanova, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Villanova quarterback John Robertson was scratched from Saturday's FCS quarterfinal against Sam Houston State because of a concussion suffered last weekend.

Robertson, a redshirt junior who was the CAA Football offensive player of the year, suffered the concussion in a playoff win over Liberty last Saturday.

He went through concussion protocols during the week and was cleared to play against Sam Houston State, but he felt symptoms of the injury Saturday morning.

After being examined by the team's medical staff, he was scratched from the game. Senior quarterback Chris Polony started in Robertson's place.

Robertson has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons and this year he's combined it with 218.9 passing yards per game and 35 touchdowns versus only three interceptions for 301.8 total yards per outing.

He is one of three players who has been invited to the announcement of the Walter Payton Award - the Heisman of the FCS - Monday night in Philadelphia.
