The St. Louis Cardinals agreed to terms with handed pitcher Arthur Rhodes on Thursday.

Rhodes, who was put on waivers Monday by the Texas Rangers, is expected to join the Cardinals on Friday.

The 41-year-old reliever appeared in 32 games for the Rangers, going 3-3 with a 4.81 earned run average. He was designated for assignment after Texas acquired right-handed reliever Mike Adams from the San Diego Padres.

In his 20th major league season, Rhodes has a career record of 87-69 with a 4.08 ERA in 881 appearances.
