Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The injury-riddled Chicago Bulls will be without another star player for at least a few weeks.
All-Star guard Jimmy Butler could miss 3-to-6 weeks with injuries to his left elbow suffered when he ran into a pick during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the team announced Monday.
Butler was guarding Chris Paul when he collided with 6-foot-11 center DeAndre Jordan in the third quarter. He left the game and didn't return.
The Bulls said an MRI revealed two injuries to Butler's elbow -- a Grade 2/3 ulnar ligament sprain and small bone impaction.
The team, of course, was already dealing with the loss of former MVP Derrick Rose, who will miss up to six weeks after having surgery on Friday to repair a medial meniscus tear in his right knee.
Forward Pau Gasol played for Chicago on Sunday after missing Friday's win over Minnesota with an illness, but forward Taj Gibson was out after suffering an ankle injury Friday.
Butler is averaging a team-best 20.2 points and an NBA-high 38.9 minutes in 55 games this season.
The Bulls' regular season ends on April 15, just over six weeks from Monday's announcement. They lead Cleveland by a half-game for first place in the Central Division.
