The National Hockey League suspended Calgary Flames forward Rene Bourque for two games, without pay, on Monday.

Bourque was caught for checking Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook from behind early in the first period of a 4-2 Blackhawks victory on Sunday.

The 30-year-old was given a major and game misconduct for his efforts.

Bourque will not be eligible to return until December 23 when Calgary plays in Vancouver. He will forfeit $36,036.04 in salary which goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
