ITHACA, N.Y. – Brian Barbour scored 23 points and Columbia held on to beat Cornell 70-66 on Saturday.
The lead changed five times in the second half, as Cornell took a 63-61 lead on Chris Wroblewski's basket with 2:20 left in the second half. But the Lions (11-5, 2-0 Ivy League) answered with eight straight points, capped by Barbour's two free throws with 10 seconds left.
Meiko Lyles, who fouled out, finished with 10 points for the Lions, who won their fourth in a row and eighth of their last nine games.
Columbia, which beat the two-time Ivy League defending champion Big Red (4-12, 0-2) for the second time this season, won despite having 16 turnovers to Cornell's 11. The Lions outrebounded Cornell 38-32.
Wroblewski and Aaron Osgood each scored 16 points for the Big Red, who had a 10 point lead in the first half. Errick Peck had 10 points.
