Marcelo Bielsa's men picked up right where 1 win Thursday, advancing 5-3 on aggregate.

Fernando Llorente got the Spaniards in front before Oscar de Marcos put the result beyond any doubt in the second half. Wayne Rooney pulled one back late on for United, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation goal.

The opening goal, which came in the 23rd minute, was a stunner from Llorente. The Spanish striker latched on to a long ball played over the top of United's defense and lashed a one-time volley past David De Gea into the back of the net.

De Marcos put the nail in United's coffin 20 minutes after the halftime break. A failed clearance from Chris Smalling fell to the Spanish midfielder inside the box and he made no mistake with the finish, slotting home a shot that needed a deflection from Rafael to get past De Gea.

The Red Devils claimed a goal for their efforts as Rooney curled a shot into the upper corner 10 minutes from time, but it failed to spark a patented United comeback, dooming the English champions to another European exit.

Valencia held on at the Philips Stadion to oust PSV with a 1-1 draw. Adil Rami bagged Valencia's lone goal before PSV captain Ola Toivonen leveled the score, wrapping up a 5-3 aggregate win for the Spaniards.

Hannover crushed 10-man Standard Liege with a resounding 4-0 win at the AWD- Arena to advance on a 6-2 aggregate score. The home side grabbed a goal apiece from Mohammed Abdellaoue, Didier Ya Konan, and Sergio Pinto, and even one from the visitors as an own goal from Kanu capped a disappointing outing for the Belgian club.

Antonio Di Natale bagged a brace for Udinese in a 2-1 defeat of AZ Alkmaar, but it was not enough to overturn a two-goal loss in the opening leg as the Dutch side advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Manchester City topped Sporting Lisbon with a 3-2 win on the night, but fell just short of advancing with a 3-3 aggregate score. Sporting goes through to the quarterfinals on away goals.

Atletico Madrid cruised to a 3-0 win over Besiktas to go through 6-1 on aggregate, Schalke overcame a 1-0 first-leg loss to thump Twente 4-1 in the second leg, and Metalist Kharkiv escaped Greece with a 2-1 win against Olympiacos to advance on away goals.
