Gelsenkirchen, Germany – Raffael Araujo scored three minutes from time to salvage a point for Schalke in a 2-2 stalemate against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday at the Veltins Arena.
Leverkusen had the upper hand for a large portion of the match and jumped out to a 2-0 margin behind goals from Simon Rolfes in the 39th minute and Stefan Kiessling two minutes before the hour mark.
The visitors appeared poised to snatch all three points, but the momentum shifted in Schalke's favor in the 71st minute after Teemu Pukki pulled one back to make it 2-1.
Things got worse for Leverkusen with four minutes to play when Omer Toprak was shown a red card, reducing the traveling side to 10 men.
Making matters even more troublesome for Leverkusen, Schalke was also awarded a penalty kick as a result of Toprak's rash challenge.
Araujo stepped up and calmly fired it into the net as the sides shared the points.
Leverkusen remains in third place in the Bundesliga table with 50 points form 29 matches, while Schalke sits in fourth place on 46 points.
Bayern Munich 4, Nurnberg 0
Munich, Germany - After clinching the Bundesliga title last week, Bayern Munich showed no signs of slowing down on Saturday, posting a comfortable 4-0 victory over Nurnberg at the Allianz Arena.
The home side showed its title-wining class just five minutes into the match when Jerome Boateng collected a loose ball in the penalty area and smashed it home to give the Bavarians the lead.
Bayern made it 2-0 in the 17th minute when Mario Gomez fired it past Nurnberg goalkeeper Raphael Schafer, and it was 3-0 for the hosts when Rafinha knocked it home.
The German champions closed it out in the 56th minute when Xherden Shaqiri got on the end of a cross from Franck Ribery and slotted it into the net.
Dusseldorf 2, Werder Bremen 2
Dusseldorf, Germany - Dusseldorf and Werder Bremen battled to a 2-2 draw on Saturday at the Esprit Arena.
The hosts got off the mark quickly as Stefan Reisinger found the back of the net with a well-placed right-footed strike just two minutes into the match for the early advantage.
But Bremen responded with an equalizer through Junuzovic Zlatko, who ran onto a through ball from Kevin De Bruyne on the break and fired it into the top left corner.
Dusseldorf grabbed the lead back in the 48th minute when Reisinger bagged his second of the day, but an own goal by Martin Latka put the sides back on level terms.
Dusseldorf remains in 15th place with 30 points, while Bremen stay in 14th, two points better than Dusseldorf.
Hamburg 2, Mainz 1
Mainz, Germany - Heung-Min Son netted a second-half double as Hamburg posted a 2-1 victory over Mainz on Saturday at the Coface Arena.
Both teams battled hard in the first half but went into the break scoreless before Son broke the deadlock in the 61st minute.
Son raced through the Mainz backline via a perfectly-weighted through ball from Rafael van der Vaart and ripped it into the top left corner.
19 minutes later Son struck again to give Hamburg a 2-0 advantage when he slotted in into the bottom right corner.
Shawn Parker pulled one back for Mainz with four minutes to play, but the home side held on to collect three points.
Borussia Dortmund 6, Greuther Furth 1
Furth, Germany - Mario Gotze and Ilkay Gundogan each scored twice and Borussia Dortmund thrashed Greuther Furth, 6-1, on Saturday at the Trolli Arena.
Gotze picked up his first tally of the day for Dortmund just 12 minutes into the match and Gundogan followed suit with his first of the afternoon just three minutes later to quickly make it 2-0 for Dortmund.
Jakub Blaszczykowski found the back of the net in the 28th to make it a three- goal margin and Gundogan completed his brace just five minutes later. Gotze finished his double on the stroke of halftime to give Dortmund a 5-0 lead at the break.
After the intermission, Furth pulled one back with 19 minutes to play through Edgar Prib, but Robert Lewandowski finished the scoring for Dortmund with 10 minutes to play to secure a result that was never in question.
Wolfsburg 2, Hoffenheim 2
Wolfsburg, Germany - Naldo's tally with four minutes to play salvaged a point for Wolfsburg in a 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday at the Volkswagen Arena.
Maximilian Arnold struck first for Wolfsburg just 13 minutes into the match, but Sejad Salihovic answered for Hoffenheim by converting a penalty kick to put the sides back on even terms in the 35th minute.
Andreas Beck gave the traveling side the lead in the 63rd minute and it appeared Hoffenheim would take all three points, but Naldo rescued his side with four minutes to play when he put one home from in close following a corner kick.
