New York, NY – Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout was named both the American League Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month for July.
Trout batted a robust .392 with six doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 23 RBI and 32 runs scored in 25 games. He was named the league's top rookie for the third consecutive month, which is the most in a single season since Jason Bay took home three rookie awards for the Pirates during the 2004 campaign.
It is also the most in one season by an American League player since Ichiro Suzuki garnered five in 2001.
Trout tied Cleveland's Hal Trosky (1934) for most runs scored by a rookie in a month and also tied Roy Hartsfield's 1950 rookie mark with at least one run scored in 15 consecutive games (July 5-23).
His 10 home runs established a new AL rookie high for home runs in July and tied an Angels club record for the most homers in any month by a rookie.
Other receiving Player of the Month votes included Detroit's Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder, Minnesota's Josh Willingham and Kansas City's Alex Gordon. Oakland slugger Yoenis Cespedes also received votes for AL Rookie of the Month.
