Tips To Protect Your Hands This Winter

The thermometer is expected to take a pretty big drop this week. That means dry, winter skin, especially for your hands.

Our hands are particularly vulnerable because we wash them so much to protect against colds and flu.

The American Academy of Dermatology says don't forget the gloves when you go outside. They're your first line of defense against the cold.

You may also need to bump up your moisturizer from the lotion-based products that work well in the summer to a thicker, cream-based formula for winter.

Finally, if that's not enough to soften up those chapped hands, buy a cheap pair of cotton gloves, slather on your moisturizer and wear the gloves to bed.

If your skin still doesn't improve, you might want to make an appointment with a dermatologist to rule out more serious problems like eczema or psoriasis.
