The birthday boy may have gotten all the attention for turning the big O-N-E, but it was his mother who stirred headlines for abandoning her thrifty ways (just for a day) to slip into something more extravagant.
READ: How to Recycle Your Wardrobe Like Kate Middleton
Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is famous not just for her gorgeous head of hair, but for being a coveted style icon who isn’t afraid to recycle her wardrobe for public events. But for son Prince George’s first birthday, the 32-year-old opted for a head-turning retro look to attend a butterfly exhibition at the Natural Museum in London.
So, what’s so special about Middleton’s latest ensemble? US Weekly is reporting that her outfit is one specifically designed to flatter all body types (not like Middleton needs help, of course). The emerald-hued Budding Heart Silk Tea Dress, created by London-based British designer Suzannah, takes inspiration from a 1930s find in a Parisian vintage market. It also features a dainty V-neck cut for a slimming effect.
“Our expert printers in Como, Italy, translated this wonderful print onto beautiful silk crepe de chine exclusively for Suzannah,” says the retail site.
They also say this dress works for all seasons, with or without stockings.

Does Middleton's latest dress inspire you to want to dress up like a royal? Not so fast — this stylish piece will cost you.
“The knee-length frock retails for $810, or 475 pounds, and, as of Tuesday, July 21, was still available in a variety of sizes on Suzannah.com,” says US Weekly.
We have a feeling Prince William's wife didn’t have a problem splurging at that price, but the rest of us might feel a little different.

For her visit to London’s Blessed Sacrament School Tuesday, Kate Middleton stepped out in a fitted hot pink dress, which perfectly accentuated her super slim physique. JustJared.com is reporting the 32-year-old royal made her latest public appearance to see the progress of M-PACT Plus, a school-based project addressing families affected by addiction. The initiative was launched in 2013 by Middleton and British comedian John Bishop.
And as expected, all eyes were on the mother of Prince George thanks to her newest ensemble.
According to US Weekly, the rich salmon-hued fitted frock was made by British designer Goat, and features three-quarter length sleeves, as well as a silver-accented belt to cinch Middleton’s tiny waist. The Duchess completed the look with nude heels to elongate her already tall self and a matching box clutch.
