Freed former Tijuana mayor says no hard feelings
TIJUANA, Mexico – The eccentric former mayor of Tijuana says he has no hard feelings toward Mexican officials following his 10-day imprisonment after a military raid that yielded an arsenal of illegal weapons in his house.
Jorge Hank Rhon denies that the raid was a political plot by the federal government to discredit him or his Institutional Revolutionary Party, an accusation made by many of his supporters.
The 55-year-old gambling magnate and former mayor was freed last week after a judge dismissed charges against him because of a lack of evidence and inconsistencies in the raid.
Hank Rhon says the U.S. State Department has revoked his visa.
He spoke to the media on Monday in the lobby of his flagship casino in his first public comments since his release.
