NEW YORK (Reuters) - Baseball's World Series will not stretch over into November this year, according to the 2011 postseason schedule released by Major League Baseball (MLB) on Wednesday.

World Series play will commence on October 19 and end on October 27 even if the series goes the full seven games, MLB said.

The San Francisco Giants won the 2010 World Series by defeating the Texas Rangers in game five on November 1.

The series started on October 27.

This year's postseason competition will begin with American League Division Series games on September 30. National League play will start the next day.

League championship series are set to open on October 8 in the American and October 9 in the National.
