Wolfsburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Wolfsburg fell further back of top spot in the Bundesliga after being held to a 1-1 draw by Schalke at the Volkswagen Arena on Sunday.
The hosts fell behind after 53 minutes as Leroy Sane handed Schalke a shock lead.
Kevin De Bruyne did manage to bring Wolfsburg level in the 78th minute, but a winning goal proved elusive, leaving the club 12 points back of first-place Bayern Munich with five matches to play.
Schalke, meanwhile, climbs to fifth place with 42 points.
Also in Sunday's Bundesliga slate, Werder Bremen made the most of Valon Behrami's late red card as Franco Di Santo slotted home the ensuing penalty to give the club a 1-0 victory over Hamburg.
