Two little-used reserves are leaving the Penn State basketball program.

The team announced Wednesday that sophomore forward Patrick Ackerman and freshman guard Akosa Maduegbunam (MAD-a-WAY-boo-nam) were granted releases to transfer after completing the spring semester.

The departures create one scholarship roster opening for the Nittany Lions, who finished 10-21 and last in the Big Ten (2-16) in Chambers' second year on the bench.

Chambers, in his first full recruiting cycle, signed a respectable four-player high school class arriving in the fall highlighted by guard Geno Thorpe out of Pittsburgh.

Also, senior point guard Tim Frazier is expected to return after missing all but four games this year because of a left Achilles injury, while guard John Johnson will be eligible in December after transferring from the University of Pittsburgh.
