Ajax continues to struggle in the Eredivisie as the club sustained a 2-0 defeat at home against Vitesse on Saturday.

Ajax has now gone four games in league play without a win and sits nine points back of leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Bonno Wilfried scored both goals for Vitesse, with the first arriving in the 38th minute before he doubled his tally on the other side of halftime.

Vitesse jumps into third place with the result, three points back of PSV, which moved to the top of the league on Saturday after a 4-0 win against Heracles.

First-half goals from Dries Mertens and Luciano Narsingh had PSV on its way to three points, while Kevin Strootman and Tim Matavz scored in the final 15 minutes to cap the victory.

The other contest on Saturday saw Utrecht climb into the top four with a 5-1 thumping of Willem II.

Jacob Mulenga and Alexander Gerndt scored two goals apiece for Utrecht, while Cedric van der Gun opened the scoring in the 13th minute.
