London, ON – The Russian tandem of Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov placed first in the pairs competition of Wednesday's short program at the World Figure Skating Championships.
Volosozhar and Trankov earned a score of 75.84.
The Canadian duo of Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford came in second place with a score of 73.61, edging Germany's Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, who posted a score of 73.47.
Americans Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim finished 12th.
