Vancouver Canucks center Cory Hodgson has been selected as the NHL's top rookie for the month of January.

Hodgson scored six goals and assisted on four others, leading all rookies last month with 10 points, in 11 games. His 14 goals this season are second among rookies and his 30 points are tied for fourth.

Others considered for the January honor were Philadelphia forwards Sean Couturier and Matt Read, Ottawa's Colin Greening, Chicago's Andrew Shaw and Nashville's Ryan Ellis.
