Vancouver Canucks forward David Booth is to-6 weeks with a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault confirmed the diagnosis via the club's Twitter account on Wednesday night.

Booth, who was acquired from Florida in October, has totaled five goals and 13 points in 25 games with the Panthers and Canucks this season.

The club recalled forward Bill Sweatt from Chicago of the American Hockey League as an emergency replacement for Booth, and also assigned forward Victor Oreskovich to Chicago.
