Jaco Van Zyl topped Hennie Otto in the first playoff hole on Sunday to win the Investec Cup.

Van Zyl held at least a 3-stroke lead at the conclusion of both the second and third rounds, but had to birdie his final hole on Sunday to force the playoff with Otto, who fired a sizzling 10-under 62 in his final round to vault himself to the top of the leaderboard at 21-under-par 267.

Van Zyl, meanwhile, carded a 4-under 68 during his final round at Lost City Golf Course to capture his second straight Sunshine Tour win and his third of the season overall.

Justin Walters (67) finished in third place at 19-under, while Trevor Fisher, Jr. (66) sat in fourth at minus-16.

Otto steadily made his pursuit of Van Zyl with back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth before pouring in three straight birdies from the sixth.

After recording pars at the ninth and 10th, Otto again recorded consecutive birdies at the 11th and 12th, and then closed his round with three straight birdies to briefly grab the outright lead.

Van Zyl stumbled to a bogey at the first, but got that stroke back with a birdie at the fourth.

He then surged forward during his inward nine as he recorded four birdies over his final eight holes to meet Otto atop the leaderboard and force the playoff.

Otto and Van Zyl replayed the 18th hole for the playoff, where Van Zyl hit his approach into the water to give Otto a chance for the win.

Van Zyl was able to scramble for par, however, and he secured his 13th career Sunshine Tour title after Otto failed to convert a 3-foot par putt.
