Chester, PA – The Philadelphia Union announced on Monday that the club has signed German midfielder/forward Kai Herdling on loan from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
The 27-year-old will be available for the Union upon completion of his P-1 visa and receipt of his international transfer certificate.
Herdling has appeared in 24 games for Hoffenheim's reserve team this season, scoring nine goals with 14 assists.
During the 2010-11 campaign, Herdling netted 19 goals in 30 games and has also served as captain of the side.
