Minneapolis, MN – Minnesota Twins infielder Chris Parmelee was hit in the head with a pitch in Wednesday's game between the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox.
Batting with two runners on base and one out in the sixth inning with the Twins trailing, 7-5, Parmelee was hit square on the bill of his helmet with a fastball from Red Sox pitcher Justin Thomas.
Parmelee fell to the ground and lay motionless for a few seconds before coming to and sitting up at home plate. He spoke with the team trainer and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire before getting to his feet and leaving the field under his own power. He was replaced on the base paths by Danny Valencia.
Parmelee is hitting .250 with four doubles, one triple and two RBI in 14 games with Minnesota this season.
