The Minnesota Twins declined the 2013 club option on closer Matt Capps on Wednesday.

A shoulder injury limited Capps to just 30 appearances this season and he made just three after June. On the season, he went 1-4 with a 3.68 earned run average and 14 saves.

An eight-year veteran, he has pitched in 444 games, all as a reliever and had recorded 138 saves in 176 opportunities. He has posted a 29-33 mark with a 3.52 ERA.

Also on Wednesday, the team outrighted pitchers Jeff Manship, Luis Perdomo, Esmerling Vasquez, Kyle Waldrop, P.J. Walters and outfielder Matt Carson off the major league roster and reinstated pitchers Scott Baker, Cole De Vries and Carl Pavano off the disabled list.

Pitcher Carlos Gutierrez was claimed on outright waivers by the Chicago Cubs.
