Tsonga will miss U.S. Open

Paris, France – World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has pulled out of the upcoming U.S. Open, citing a left knee injury.

The 28-year-old French star hasn't played since the last week of June when he retired from his second-round match at Wimbledon. Tsonga said on his website that he eyes a return to action next month.

Tsonga was a French Open semifinalist earlier this year and the 2008 Australian Open runner-up.

The 2013 U.S. Open will commence Aug. 26 in New York.
