Toledo holds off Air Force for thrilling Military Bowl win
Washington, DC – Bernard Reedy scored the go-ahead touchdown yard catch, and Toledo escaped with a 42-41 victory in the Military point conversion at the other end.
Reedy's third touchdown of the game gave Toledo a 42-35 lead in the thrill-a- minute game at RFK Stadium, but Air Force responded with Zack Kauth's 33-yard touchdown catch on fourth down, pulling within a point with 52 seconds left.
The Falcons lined up to kick the extra point, but holder David Baska kept the ball on a fake. As he tried to score through the left side of the line, the ball was knocked from his hands.
Kicker Parker Herrington chased after it, but ended up knocking it through the left side of the end zone. An onside kick failed after that, giving Toledo (9-4) the win.
Air Force (7-6) rallied from two 14-point deficits in the first half to tie the game at 28-28 heading to the locker room.
