Jahad Thomas scored 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, Mark Cornelius added 11, and UMass-Lowell beat Boston University 69-59 on Saturday.

Chad Holley scored 10 points and the River Hawks (5-2) outrebounded the Terriers 35-29 and made 18 of 24 free throws.

Cedric Hankerson led Boston University (1-4) with 22 points and Nathan Dieudonne added 14 and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Terriers led 13-5 on a 3-pointer by Cheddi Mosely, but the River Hawks used a 10-1 run to lead 15-14 and a 10-3 run to pull to a 29-22 halftime lead.

Boston University regained the lead 34-32 in the second half on a layup by Hankerson, but Thomas hit a layup at 12:25 to put the River Hawks up 39-38 and they led 47-40 after and 8-2 run. Holley hit four free throws down the stretch and Thomas added two to seal the win.
