Under coach Brenda Frese, Maryland has been to five Elite Eights, with two trips to the Final Four and one national championship in 2006.

Elizabeth Williams scored 18 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds to pace Duke (23-11). Ka'lia Johnson contributed 15 points for the Blue Devils, and Azura Stevens added 11 in the loss.

Maryland was able to grab a 31-23 lead at halftime thanks to a 40 percent shooting touch from the field in the opening period. The Terps held the Blue Devils to just 36 percent shooting in the same frame.

Both teams shot roughly 48 percent in the second half, but the Terrapins continued to build their lead, which stretched to as many as 13 points with 39 seconds left to play in regulation.

Maryland outscored Duke from beyond the 3-point arc, 24-9, and held a 33-24 edge in rebounding in the victory.
