Anthony Stokes helped Celtic open its Scottish Premier League title defense in style on Saturday, scoring twice at Parkhead to see the club earn a 2-1 victory over Ross County.

The Hoops found themselves down inside the opening three minutes after Darren Maatsen gave Ross County a shock lead, but Stokes managed to bring Celtic level with an equalizer in the 27th minute.

The two sides remained deadlocked at a goal apiece until the 87th minute when Stokes notched the winner to complete his brace and lift Celtic to all three points.

Inverness and Aberdeen went level with Celtic atop the SPL table on Saturday after they picked up wins from their opening matches of the season.

James Vincent, Aaron Doran and Billy McKay each scored in second-half action to lift Inverness to a 3-0 defeat of St. Mirren while goals from Jonathan Hayes and Willo Flood were enough to see Aberdeen claim a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock.
