Sanchez beats Guerrero to win title

Los Mochis, Mexico – Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr. earned a 12- round unanimous decision over Rodrigo Guerrero to capture the IBF super flyweight title Saturday night.

The 21-year-old Sanchez (13-1-1), who was participating in his first championship fight, won by scores of 119-109, 116-112 and 115-113. The southpaw was coming off an eight-round unanimous decision win over Juan Francisco Estrada in May of last year.

Guerrero (16-4-1), who picked up the crown with a technical decision over Raul Martinez in October, had been unbeaten in Mexico since 2006, winning all 14 of his bouts.
