Surprise, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Royals claimed outfielder Jimmy Paredes off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.
Paredes hit .192 with one homer, 10 RBI and four steals in 48 games last season with the Houston Astros.
In a corresponding roster move, the Royals designated right-handed pitcher Maikel Cleto for assignment.
