Foxborough, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kelyn Rowe bagged a first-half brace at Gillette Stadium on Saturday to lead the New England Revolution to a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.
The Revs, who had been held scoreless in their first two matches of the season, went in front in the 21st minute of Saturday's contest when Rowe uncorked a right-footed shot that took a deflection on its way past David Bingham.
Rowe then doubled the advantage eight minutes before the break, taking a knock-down from Darius Barnes and slotting home a first-time attempt from close range.
San Jose pulled one back in the 62nd minute after Scott Caldwell tripped Clarence Goodson at the edge of the box, which allowed Chris Wondolowski to convert on the ensuing penalty for his third goal of the campaign.
It proved to be nothing more than a consolation strike, though, as the Revs closed out the match with the lead intact, giving the club four points for the season.
The 'Quakes remain on six points, bringing an end to their two-game winning run.
