Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Colorado Rockies manager Walt Weiss underwent an appendectomy after complaining of stomach pain and discomfort prior to Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Weiss was taken to a hospital prior to the game with head trainer Keith Dugger to undergo tests and soon thereafter underwent surgery. Weiss is expected to be hospitalized until Thursday afternoon.

Bench coach Tom Runnells managed the team in Weiss' absence.

According to the Denver Post, Weiss began experiencing stomach pain Tuesday night during the Rockies' 5-2 loss to the Angels.

The Rockies dropped their 11th straight game on Wednesday for the first time since July 4-17, 2000.
