St. Petersburg, FL – The Tampa Bay Rays signed third baseman Richie Shaffer, the team's first-round pick in the draft, Friday.
The 25th pick of the draft, Shaffer hit .336 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI as a junior at Clemson last year.
He will report to Short-Season A Hudson Valley.
