Rams part ways with Long, Wells

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Rams announced the release of offensive linemen Jake Long and Scott Wells on Monday.

"Jake and Scott brought experience and professionalism to our program and we appreciate their commitment and hard work," stated Rams head coach Jeff Fisher. "Both of them overcame injury difficulties and provided leadership for our younger players. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for both of them."

A Michigan product who was a 2008 pick of the Dolphins, Long signed with St. Louis prior to the 2013 season. He made 22 starts during his two seasons with the Rams, but was limited to seven appearances last season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Wells, out of Tennessee, joined the Rams from the Packers as a free agent in 2012. He departs the Gateway City after participating in 35 games in three seasons with the club, including all 16 in 2014.
