Carmel, IN – Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Jared Veldheer will start the season on injured reserve as he recovers from a torn left triceps.
The Raiders, set to begin the season Sunday in Indianapolis, expect the fourth-year veteran to come back this season and gave him the designated to return tag.
Veldheer suffered the injury in mid-August. He has started each of the club's games over the past two seasons and has started all but five games since joining the team as a third-round pick in the 2010 draft.
The Raiders promoted offensive tackle Matt McCants from the practice squad to the active roster.
