Barcelona, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Barcelona's shaky defense suffered a hit over the weekend as it was confirmed that defender Gerard Pique will miss the next two weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Spain international played the full 90 minutes in Barca's 3-1 defeat at Real Sociedad on Saturday, and he will now face a race to be fit for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 match with Manchester City on March 12, which Barca leads 2-0.
Pique will miss out on next weekend's match with struggling Almeria and is also unlikely to be selected for Spain's friendly against Italy on March 5.
The 27-year-old has started 22 of Barca's 25 games in league play, scoring two goals, while the Catalan side sits three points back of leaders Real Madrid after this past weekend's defeat.
