Pittsburgh Penguins forward James Neal suffered a concussion and will miss the club's upcoming three-game road trip.

Pens head coach Dan Bylsma announced the news on Monday, three days after Neal left a 2-1 shootout victory over the New York Rangers.

Neal left that game in the second period and did not return after absorbing an accidental elbow from Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto.

The Blueshirt blueliner was attempting to shield Neal from the puck at the goal line to the left of Henrik Lundqvist, when the back of Del Zotto's right elbow struck Neal flush in the face.

The 25-year-old winger has totaled 18 goals and 32 points in 39 games this season.

Despite losing captain Sidney Crosby to a broken jaw for an indefinite period, the Penguins hit the road as the top team in the Eastern Conference with 58 points, having won 16 of their last 18 games.
