(SportsNetwork.com) - The New Orleans Pelicans are fighting for their playoff lives and will start a three-game road trip Wednesday against the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.

The Pelicans will make stops in Sacramento and Portland as well on this trip and are winless in three straight games outside the Big Easy.

New Orleans, which is 2 1/2 games off the eighth spot in the West, has recorded back-to-back wins following a four-game slide and is coming off Sunday's 110-88 drubbing of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Davis had 28 points and nine rebounds to lead the way, while Omer Asik scored 15 points.

"We understand how close we are to making the playoffs," Davis said. "We have to continue to play like this every night in order to make it. So in our eyes, every game now is a playoff game for us."

The Pelicans never trailed in the game and went 2-1 on the homestand.

Los Angeles is back home for three games versus New Orleans, Portland and the LA Clippers and went 2-3 on its recent trek. LA is 11-24 at home.

The Lakers ended the journey with a 113-111 overtime victory against the Philadelphia 76ers, as Jordan Clarkson put the guests ahead to stay with an underneath layup with a second to go in OT. Clarkson had 26 points, Jabari Brown added 22 and Wayne Ellington scored 20 points in the win.

"He's not afraid of the moment," Los Angeles coach Byron Scott said of Clarkson. "You've got to like to that."

Lakers guard Jeremy Lin missed his second straight game with an illness and is questionable Wednesday. Forward Carlos Boozer is also questionable with an illness.

The Lakers are 0-3 against New Orleans this season and winless in the past four games in this series.
