Pedro Rodriguez bagged a hat trick on Saturday as Barcelona rolled to a comfortable 4-0 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

The reigning La Liga champions opened the scoring in the 33rd minute through Pedro's first goal of the day, but just three minutes later Vallecano had a prime opportunity to level things when Roberto Trashorras was awarded a penalty kick.

Trashorras stepped up to the spot, but Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes managed to keep it out and keep his side in front heading into the break.

The Catalans put the result away just two minutes into the second half as Pedro got on the end of a perfect ball from Cesc Fabregas and fired it into the roof of the net.

Pedro completed his hat trick 18 minutes from time and Fabregas added a fourth tally seven minutes later to ensure Barcelona took all three points.

The result sees Barca remain perfect this season with five wins from five matches, while Vallecano has just one win from its first five games.

Almeria 2, Levante 2

Almeria, Spain - Levante netted two second-half goals in a five-minute span on Saturday to rally from a two-goal deficit and salvage a point in a 2-2 draw with 10-man Almeria at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos.

It took almost the entire opening 45 minutes before the opening goal as Almeria found the first breakthrough in first-half stoppage time through a penalty kick by Verza.

After the break the hosts doubled the lead in the 51st minute as Suso found the back of the net. But then things went downhill as Christian Fernandez was shown a straight red card, reducing the home side to 10 men.

Levante got back into the match a minute later as Nabil El Zhar converted a penalty kick and Pape Diop brought the sides level with a goal on the hour mark to save a point for his club.

Atletico Madrid 2, Real Valladolid 0

Valladolid, Spain - Atletico Madrid bagged a pair of second half goals on Saturday to remain perfect with a 2-0 victory over Real Valladolid at the Jose Zorrilla.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes which saw both sides fail to find the opening goal, Atletico struck first in the 56th minute through a goal from Raul Garcia.

Valladolid pushed for an equalizer but it was the visiting side secured an all- important second goal when Diego Costa found the back of the net 18 minutes from time.

The result sees Valladolid remain in 14th place with just one win from their first five matches this season.

Real Sociedad 0, Malaga 0

San Sebastian, Spain - Real Sociedad and Malaga played to a scoreless draw on Saturday at the Anoeta.

Both team struggled to generate quality scoring chances as the hosts put just two shots on target, while Malaga managed four strikes on frame, but neither side could find a breakthrough.

The result sees Real Sociedad up to seventh place in La Liga with six points from its first five matches, while Malaga fall to ninth place in the table with five points from five games played.
