New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount left the practice field on Friday after going down with an apparent right knee injury. The severity of the injury is unknown.

After the injury occurred, Blount remained down on the field for a few minutes. He was, however, able to walk off the field under his own power.

Blount is expected to be the No. 1 running back for the Patriots after playing in five games for New England in 2014. Without Stevan Ridley or Shane Vereen in New England this season, the workload is expected to fall largely on Blount's shoulders.

In Blount's absence -- however long that should be -- Travaris Cadet and Jonas Gray will be given more opportunities.
