Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Indiana Pacers signed head coach Frank Vogel to a multi-year contract extension on Wednesday.
Vogel led the Pacers to a 56-26 record last season and a second consecutive Central Division title. Indiana has made two straight appearances in the Eastern Conference Finals, losing each time to the Miami Heat.
"We're very happy to extend Frank's contract," said Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird. "I believe he has done a great job and I look forward to continuing our relationship and working together to achieve all of our goals."
The 41-year-old Vogel, who had also earned a contract extension in January of 2013, is entering his fourth full season as head coach after taking over on an interim basis in January, 2011. He has a record of 147-82 since the interim tag was removed in July of 2011.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to continue my tenure as Pacers' coach," said Vogel. "It's an honor to represent this franchise and lead this team. I look forward to the challenge ahead. I'm grateful to have had good, coachable teams along with coaching staffs that have been second to none."
The Pacers won't have Paul George (broken leg) and Lance Stephenson (signed with Charlotte) this season.
Indiana starts the regular season against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 29.
