Novak Djokovic says he wants to win gold at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and will not be staying at the athletes' village during the games.

Djokovic lost to subsequent champion Andy Murray in the semifinals of the London Olympics in 2012, after winning the bronze for Serbia in Beijing in 2008.

The top-ranked Djokovic said Wednesday he wanted "more time to spend with athletes in the village" during the run-up to the games, as he acclimatized to conditions.

But once the Olympics from Aug. 5 to 21 got underway, Djokovic said he would need "my space and privacy and peace for practice" would stay elsewhere.

Murray will not be living in the Olympic Village in Rio, preferring instead to stay at an apartment with the British tennis team.
