Notre Dame Stadium evacuated at halftime of USF game
South Bend, IN – Officials evacuated Notre Dame Stadium on two separate occasions Saturday because of severe lightning in the South Bend area.
Notre Dame and South Florida were at halftime of their season opener when the weather turned for the worse, causing the 80,000-plus in attendance to be evacuated in quick fashion.
The Bulls were leading the Fighting Irish, 16-0, at the time.
The game resumed after a delay of two hours, 10 minutes, but was put on hold again with 4:21 remaining in regulation with a heavy storm on the horizon.
South Florida was on top, 23-13, when the second delay occurred.
