Joel Smith scored 21 points and Chaisson Allen added 19 as Northeastern snapped a nine-game losing streak by defeating William & Mary 70-67 Monday night.

The Huskies (5-15, 1-8 Colonial Athletic Association) led by 13 points at halftime and by 18 on two occasions, but had to sweat it out at the end, once William & Mary (6-14, 2-7) trimmed their lead to four.

Quinn McDowell scored 22 points for William & Mary, surpassing the 1,000-point milestone for his career, but it wasn't enough to keep the Huskies from avenging last season's CAA tournament semifinal loss to the Tribe.

Tim Rusthoven had 13 and Brandon Britt added 11 for the Tribe, who have lost nine of their last 11.

Jonathan Lee had 11 points for Northeastern and Kauri Black added 10 as the Huskies won using only seven players, one of whom — Dinko Marshavelski — played for only 3 minutes.
