The NFL announced Thursday that eight regional combines will be added in addition to the main combine it stages each year in Indianapolis.

The regional combines will start January 28, 2012 in Los Angeles and conclude with the main combine at the end of February. Houston, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, the New York area, Chicago, Atlanta and Cleveland are also included in the regional combines.

"The NFL Regional Combines program provides players - who may not have had the chance before - the opportunity to work out for NFL personnel executives," said NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson in a statement. "It allows all 32 clubs a chance to further evaluate future prospects."

Players that attend an NFL Regional Combine may be invited to attend the NFL Super Regional Combine which will be held at Ford Field in Detroit on March 30-31, 2012.
