Melbourne, Australia – Andy Murray is back into the fourth round of a Grand Slam, for the 19th consecutive time to be exact.
Murray was a 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 winner over qualifier Ricardas Berankis at the Australian Open on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Scot and reigning U.S. Open Champion, Murray, has not lost a set so far during the tournament.
Jeremy Chardy pulled off the first big shocker in Melbourne.
The Frenchman downed 2009 U.S. Open Champion and sixth-seeded Juan Del Potro 6-3, 6-3, 6-7 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3 in the third round.
"My tactic was very simple: I play slice with my backhand and I try to play short slice because like this he has to come in the court. After, with my forehand, I can go full power," Chardy said.
Chardy broke Del Potro's serve in the eighth game of the fifth set and then held on before concluding the match with an ace.
"Well, the match was really tough. Jeremy play so strong during four hours. He serves well. He made a lot of winners with the forehand, very good slices," Del Potro said.
With Del Potro's loss, only three Grand Slam winners remain on the men's side of the draw.
Chardy will square off against No. 21-seed Andreas Seppi, who was a 6-7 (7-2), 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 winner over 12th-seeded Marin Cilic.
Seventh-seeded Jo-Wilfreid Tsonga had a 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Blaz Kavcic, while No. 9 seeded Richard Gasquet defeated Ivan Dodig 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), 6-0
