Preston Medlin scored 18 points with five assists as Utah State topped Utah Valley University 71-60 Saturday night.

Jarred Shaw scored another 18 with seven rebounds while Kyle Davis dropped in 12 points for the Aggies (6-2).

USU burst out to a quick lead in the first half behind Medlin, who dropped his third 3-point shot of the first half to give the Aggies an early 17-4 edge. Medlin hit another 3-pointer to give USU a 37-15 lead with 4:45 to go before the break.

The Aggies extended a 46-23 halftime lead to 56-28, their largest of the game, with 16:50 to play behind a short baseline jumper by Shaw. Trailing by 20-plus for most of the second half, the Wolverines clawed to within 11 in the final two minutes behind six free throws from Holton Hunsaker and a pair from Hayes Garrity.

Hunsaker led the Wolverines (4-6) with 21 points.
